Dreamscape of Mortality
2024 | PUBLICATION
The dream state has long been intrinsically linked to the concept of death. While dreams of mortality are frequently associated with feelings of insecurity and a lack of control, they also carry the promise of rebirth and new beginnings. For me, the boundary is even more fluid; my vivid dreams often feel entirely real, leaving me to question where the subconscious ends and the waking world begins.
During periods of personal struggle, I turned to sleep as a form of escapism, a ‘temporary death’ that offered quiet relief from a racing mind. In this project, I seek to reframe these heavy, existential concepts. Rather than focusing on fear or finality, I juxtapose the anxiety of the unknown with the process of transition.
Through a series of ethereal, dreamlike photographs, this work visualises the process of death not as an end, but as a serene journey of peace and surrender. By exploring the quiet beauty found within vulnerability, the imagery invites the viewer into the fragile space between consciousness and the unconscious.
